Valdichiana Italian Tomato

Pomodoro della Valdichiani Italian Heirloom

80 days. I discovered this “tomato of the valley of Chianti” at a produce stand in Radda, in the Chianti region of Italy. It was unlike any other tomato I had seen in my travels. Slightly ribbed and a deep brick red, the flavor was unlike any tomato I’ve tasted — deep, rich, and almost smokey. The flesh is extremely firm with very few seeds. It’s perfect for eating fresh or for sauce or canning. Grown from organic seed directly from the source!

As much as I love trying new varieties, I still rely on my tried and true favorites. Here's a sample of today's harvest:Top row L-R: Zapotec, Coeur du Boeuf Ananas, Valdichiana.Middle row: Black Krim, Greater Baltimore, Gold Metal.Bottom row: Taxi, Tlacolula Gold, Marmande French.Excellent tomato flavor in each of these. None disappoint. Pick one to add to your garden next year.#thecoeurdalenecoop #heirloomtomatoes #topchoice #organictomatoes #homegrownisbest ... See MoreSee Less
