Melrose Sweet Pepper

$5.00

Old Italian Heirloom — Favorite of Chicago!

65-70 days.  The Melrose pepper has its roots in southern Italy, but was brought to the U.S. by Italian immigrants who settled in the Melrose Park area of Chicago in the early 1900s. A long-time favorite of Italian-Americans, this sweet red pepper is perfect for roasting, frying or eating raw. Pointed fruit are 4 to 6” long and have thinner walls than bell peppers. While they look like hot peppers, they are very sweet when fully ripe, and sweet even in the green stage. Early producer too!
