The 2nd Street Chicken Ranch is celebrating a Sweet 16 this weekend! Our “chicks” are 16 weeks today and will be moving to the main coop with Helen and Madge.  After a month of informal “meet and greets” on the lawn, everyone is ready (well, ready or not) to live together.  There is no doubt in anyone’s pea-sized brain as…

We held our “Hens & Chicks Meet & Greet” over the weekend and I think we’ve found a way to ease the drama, trauma and pain of small flock integration.  And what a relief that is, given the trauma endured last August when we integrated two new hens into our flock. It was so bad, we ended up sending two from the original flock (the bad-girl bullies, Henny and…

This year my January wish-list was…

The winter-sown lupine was a success this year. These are Russell's, a multi-colored mix. I managed to pot up 30 seedlings. I'll let these grow on a bit before potting them up again. Depending on how they grow, I'll either plant them in the late spring or hold them until fall. I ❤️ lupines.#thecoeurdalenecoop #wintersownflowers #lovelylupine #perennialflowers#lupinelove ...
