My Heirloom Favorites!

Here are a few of my favorite heirloom and open pollinated vegetables and herbs that I grow EVERY year! These are tried-and-true varieties that grow very well in our region, but more importantly, I love them for their flavor, production, dependability, and looks!

The Coeur d'Alene Coop
Let's talk about how we grow plants at The Coeur d'Alene Coop.We are not USDA certified organic -- it's too costly for us, but...What we do follow are organic growing practices, including:🌱 OMRI-certified soils🌱 Organic seed whenever available 🌱 Never using synthetic fertilizers or pesticides 🌱 Growing methods we feel good about using in our own garden.More than 2/3 of the 100+ plant varieties we offer are grown from organic seed. That matters--for plant health, and the kind of gardens we want to support. It's not about labels. It's about practices. If you've ever wondered who's behind these garden If you've ever wondered who's behind these garden posts... hello!
👋

I'm Candace, the gardener behind The Coeur d'Alene Coop. I grow and sell heirloom and open-pollinated vegetable, herb, and flower plants right here in North Idaho.

I'm a certified Idaho Master Gardener (10 years), a garden writer, and I've been helping people grow food here for nearly 15 years.

The CdA Coop (as in "chicken coop") is an Idaho-licensed nursery, and every season we start about 4,000 seedlings, using organic growing practices and OMRI-listed soils.

We're not USDA certified organic - but we're very intentional about how plants are grown from seed to sale.🌱

If you're new to gardening here, or just want better plants and fewer garden regrets, you're in the right place. Welcome. ❤️🍅

I write a gardening newsletter once or twice a month — real advice from my own garden and greenhouse. No spam. Just plants (and sometimes, chickens).
